Submitting unclaimed funds to BC Unclaimed

All submissions must be made online using our universal spreadsheet format. You will need to know information about the type of funds, the value, and entitlement. All holders use the same spreadsheet and holders can submit different types of property on a single spreadsheet.

The spreadsheet format asks holders to identity the type of funds they are submitting (i.e., property type) and who is entitled (i.e., relationship type) via codes.

The Unclaimed Property Act allows BC Unclaimed to request all information that a holder has about an owner. It's important to provide as much information as possible about each specific property and owner because it helps BC Unclaimed locate the owner and reunite them with their property.

Property types

This is the list of property types BC Unclaimed can accept according to provincial legislation. A copy of this list is provided on Sheet 2 of the spreadsheet template.

Relationship types

Relationship types explain how the owners of a property relate to the funds and each to other (e.g., joint tenants, sole owner, beneficiary, etc.) A copy of this list is provided on Sheet 3 of the spreadsheet template.
